Summary: My arts practice celebrates individuality, expressivity and being in the moment. I ensure that all projects support artistic, social, health and well being needs of the people with whom I work. Therefore, I work collaboratively, reflecting and evaluating practice and engagement. Individual progression and learning are at the fore of my practice, with artistic process and aesthetic outcomes nurtured, sustaining high quality community arts engagement.

I can deliver one off workshops in schools, supporting cross arts and cross-curricular learning. Engage youths who are unsure of their placement in their immediate community and wider society. Nurture and inspire youth dance and performance company groups. Tailor projects for people with mental health illness. Along with a vast dedication to the relevance and quality of the arts in the health and well being sector. Particularly for children with life limiting illness, adults with dementia and Parkinson’s disease.

For me, dance is a form of expression and communication. It is a powerful and liberating tool, which can bring people and communities together. With this belief, dance is used to enrich artistic engagement with all people, from all community groups, abilities and health care needs. Everybody is able to express and feel, and my enjoyment is to facilitate this movement journey. Be it as choreographer, director, mentor, tutor and dancer.

Experience: I have worked as a community dance artist for 10 years, with university lecturing interspersed throughout the years. Lecturing at E15 Acting School, Loughton, teaching Choreological Studies and introductory movement. Lecturer in Community Dance Practice and Contemporary Release Technique at UCS. Adult Contemporary Technique tutor at Trinity Laban Conservatoire for Music and Dance. Community Dance Artist at DanceEast and Technique Tutor for the DanceEast’s Centre for Advanced Training.

Independent project writer and movement facilitator for Open Arts Mental Health Charity (SEPT) and Lead Artist for Dance Digital Future Network programme and health and well being schools programme.

Educator for CPD events in cross-curricular learning in Primary education. Along with professional ways in to dance (for professionals) entering into the health and well being sector, focusing on child oncology.

I worked as key dance facilitator at Colchester Hospital and East Anglia’s Children’s Hospice.

Mentor for choreographic projects and installations for local artists and project writer for independent arts collaborations.

I work as lead artist for The Dance Network Association and Active Essex programme, working on mass-choreography projects.

Finally, I am an inaugural member of The Knowing Body Network, driving research and development within the health and well being sector, supporting practice and educational excellence.

Summary: I am an artist, freelance artist educator and also a Foundation Learning Tutor for SEN learners.

I am particularly passionate about Arts and Health and its positive effect on physical and emotional wellbeing.

I use drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, photography, design, ceramics/clay work and making/craft activities within my workshops.

My engagement and fascination with the physical features of the natural world referencing North Norfolk, Scotland, Antarctic ice shelves, Mountains, Bird migration, Geomorphology and Coastlines are important themes within my artistic practice.  I work within a cross disciplinary Fine Art practice exploring large scale photography, sculpture, systematic drawings, and paintings through to ceramics.  I hope that my work aspires to being poetic, sensitive, humble, and strong and that it embraces skill and craftsmanship.  I almost always develop a series of images/objects which is significant in all aspects of my practice from making to display.  I have exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts and Kettles Yard, Cambridge.

Experience: I am a qualified teacher of Art and Design.  I have 16 years of experience working throughout the education spectrum; from secondary, further education, adults with learning disabilities, museum and gallery education, charities, community outreach programmes and exhibition projects. I have also worked as artist in residence at Headington School for Girls in Oxford.

I have taught from key stage 3, GCSE and A ‘level Art and Design and GNVQ’s within Independent schools and Further and Higher Education.

For the past 10 years I have taught adults with learning difficulties, designing and delivering a variety of courses in Art, Digital Photography, Horticulture and Independent living. My learner groups include those with learning difficulties, physical disabilities including hearing and visual impairments and those with mental health problems. I aim to promote a supportive and welcoming working environment, encouraging confidence, self-expression, ideas and individuality.

I have led workshops for the North Norfolk Exhibition Project, Cley Contemporary Art Exhibition for the past three years running sessions for both older people and those working in caring professions and those with special care needs and their clients.

As an Artist Educator for the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts I delivered a project for gifted KS4 students.

Art forms: Textiles, Craft

Summary: I am a weaver/textile artist. My studio practice is combined with teaching. Combining traditional techniques with contemporary design, my work ranges from fine silk scarves to 3D woven art. Materials used are mainly natural fibres, especially silk; yarns are coloured and painted making each item unique. I also enjoy experimenting with more unusual materials such as copper wire and ‘found materials’.

Experience: I have had a varied teaching career, and am an experienced weaver.

As Artist Educator for the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts I design and facilitate workshops for schools, families and outreach groups.

I have led workshops for the Salthouse/Cley Contemporary Art Project since 2008 running sessions for schools, families, carers and clients and special needs groups.

At Dragon Hall in Norwich I run the weaving Summer Schools and teach textile courses.

I provide talks and demonstrations for guilds and groups.

At the Norfolk and Norwich Association for the Blind I work as a volunteer running The Living Art Group for older people. I have many years experience working with children and young people with visual impairment.

My teaching career encompasses early years to further education.

Qualifications: Qualified teacher. BA Lit, PGCE, RSA Cert TEFL, B,phil (Special Education visual impairment), Creative Textiles level 3, distinction in Access in Art and Design.

Committee member Norfolk Contemporary Craft Society.  

Projects: Projects can be from one hour tasters to full courses. Examples of topics include simple weaving with the emphasis on creativity and exploration using found natural and recycled materials.

Community tapestries are a more sustained project with themes relevant to a given group.

Dyeing sessions explore the use of colour.

Feltmaking workshops can result in individual designs to take home at the end of the session, or in communal panels for display.

Some examples of previous projects include workshop leader for community basketry project with NNAB/Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts; a series of curriculum related feltmaking days for Northgate High School; and recently ‘Birds and Other Creatures’ family day for Cley 12 Art Festival weaving into willow shapes with a range of exciting and colourful materials.

Summary:
 
I trained at the Slade School of Fine Art. In the latter stage finding a niche making experimental films and animations. I then started working for the artist Tacita Dean assisting in the post-production of her films.  Through that time I volunteered in a homeless shelter, which then led into workshops with young offenders. Repositioning outside London, I returned to Suffolk to rediscover values of authentic localism and community.

I now teach Art & Design in a Suffolk prison. A challenging area. Working with people at risk of marginalisation by society brought about through complex problems and tangled legacies. Complied by the stigma attached to holding a criminal record, is the impact this then brings upon self perception of identity and perception of others. Through my work I witness an emergence in sensitivity, pride and motivation towards change.

We balance the requirements of professional teaching standards delivering National QCF accreditation with the roles of responsibility underlying any security/protection service. I encourage cross-platform multi media approaches, 2d and 3d with learning reference to artists and exploration into their interests. Though I teach graphic design interlacing between the digital mediums and the practical arts. .

Art provides a space for contemplation, reflection, distraction and fresh imagination through which it is possible to transcend the circumstances which have brought about their problems and incrementally bring about small changes to life and wider well-being. I consider myself fortunate in receiving daily reminders through others of the potential for restorative realisation through creative activity.

Summary: I am a creative and integrative artist and therapist, working primarily in oils and pastels, and words. I am a leader and facilitator of workshops and courses which I have created and delivered, entitled The Creative and Silent Self series, which is designed to give expression and voice to the creativity which is inherent in everyone. I use creative exercises, including drawing, pastels, paint, claywork, collage etc, creative writing of poetry and prose, journaling, visualisation and meditation to strengthen the inner self and create a safe space in which people can explore themselves and their potential. I believe in the redemptive power of art and its ability to grant new perspectives to those engaged in the creative process. Art can be a way to shape difficult experiences and transcend them.

Experience: I am an experienced and qualified teacher of children in schools, having worked with a range of ages and abilities, with over ten years experience.
For adults, my Creative Self workshops (5 day residential/ 3 day weekend) have been running since 2009 in Suffolk and Sussex and the next one is in May, a resid
ential 3 day weekend course. I have also been involved with running a creative writing workshop in Leiston, leading meditation groups in Woodbridge, delivering therapists’ training and healing workshops in Suffolk.

Qualifications: BA (Joint Hons) Drama and French (Bristol and Sorbonne); PGCE with specialism in arts and creative language (Cambridge), CPE (Law); MNFSH (healer training and qualification) member of the Friends’ Fellowship of Healing.

Summary:
I make messy drawings and sloppy water colours of almost recognizable natural forms which usually have an autobiographical significance. Also, I am a very versatile and experienced art tutor of all ages. Currently I am teaching secondary school students for three days a week. I teach A Level and GCSE and moderate for EDEXCEL. I run a weekly art class for adults and over the last few years I have run various workshop days as well as some courses for the Field Studies Council at Flatford Mill.

Projects: Mural and ceramic commission, Elsworth Primary School, Cambs. This was to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the school. I worked with every child in the school, discussing design and symbolism and involving each in the making process.
Dance festival, Teversham School, Cambs. This was an annual booking for eleven years. I worked with the whole school for four days, culminating in a performance on a given theme such as famous paintings, countries, colours or famous books for children.
I was commissioned to write ‘Peter Pan in a Day’ by Debden School, Essex. Costumes, scenery, music and choreography were produced in one day with 66 infants and performed to parents. Sutton School, Cambs also invited me to repeat the day with their pupils.

Groups worked with: I have worked periodically with various community groups, but my forte is working with children aged 4-11 and their helpers/teachers.
